Giants will be tough for Saints says coach Brown

TRIUMPHANT Giants Cup coach Nathan Brown admits a semi-final date with St Helens has the potential to be the toughest.

But with eight Super League games to play before then, the Australian believes anything is possible.

Huddersfield face Cup kings St Helens, who haven’t lost in the competition for 18 games on the weekend of August 8 and 9 (the date and venue have yet to be confirmed).

And until that date draws nearer, Brown admits it will be impossible to predict how well his side will go as they look to reach a dream Wembley final on Saturday, August 29.

“Whoever we drew was going to be hard (Wigan face Warrington in the other last-four clash),” he said.

“This is probably the toughest assignment due to the fact that they’ve won the last three.

“But they’re due to lose one, let’s hope it’s to the Giants.

“It’s a long way off, though, so we’ll enjoy this first and prepare for Hull KR on Friday.

“We’ve got some important Super League games coming up before we face Saints, and at this stage it’s impossible to predict what sort of shape either side will be in and what the form is like.

“Hopefully, we’ll take on Saints with some of our best Super League form behind us.

“This performance wasn’t our best, but we ground out a win and deserved it.

“We didn’t play well, but still won the game, which says something about us as a group.”
