Giants try hero Danny Kirmond: "We are confident"

GIANTS hero Danny Kirmond is ‘still buzzing’ from his match-winning try which earned a Challenge Cup semi-final slot against St Helens.

The second rower, who recently signed a new four-year contract with the club, pounced four minutes from time to give Nathan Brown’s side a thrilling 16-14 victory over Castleford Tigers.

It was a magical moment for the former Featherstone player, who will find out tomorrow with the rest of the squad and supporters the venue, date and time for the semi-final on the weekend of August 8-9.

And he’s eager to keep the momentum when Hull KR visit the Galpharm on Friday (8.00).

“I think everyone was buzzing for the fact we won a great cup-tie, but to get the winning try was also brilliant,” said Kirmond.

“It was a fantastic atmosphere created by both sets of fans, and to get the winning try and the relief that we were close to victory was a great feeling.”
