Giants rock Hull KR in victory

NATHAN BROWN has hailed his side’s superb defensive effort as the Giants showed their Super League strength with a highly-convincing 22-6 triumph over second-placed Hull KR at the Galpharm last night.

Huddersfield may still remain in fourth place in the table, despite a first League double of the season over their second-placed visitors after winning 30-8 at Craven Park earlier in the season.

But the nature of the victory suggests the Giants have what it takes to remain in the leading pack.

And coach Brown couldn’t be happier with the way his side handled a potentially very difficult night.

“Our effort was excellent and the players are saying the talk in defence was the best it’s been all year,” said Brown.

“Hull KR are not second by a fluke and I thought we handled them reasonably well. It’s a good result for us.

“It was not a pretty game because of the weather, but we controlled things fairly well and I was more than happy about that.

“What made it even more difficult for us was that we lost two players in the first half who were unable to come back on, which meant the others had to work extra hard.

“But we couldn’t have asked for them to have responded any better.”
