Sculthorpe targets top run in Giants team
DANNY SCULTHORPE is ready to build on his Giants debut and make a big Super League impact against former club Castleford at the Galpharm on Friday (8.00).
While Wigan have agreed to extend back row Lee Mossop’s loan to Huddersfield until the end of the season (although they have a recall facility in case of injuries), Sculthorpe’s move from Wakefield had already been confirmed for the remainder of the campaign.
The 29-year-old prop played in the claret and gold for the first time in Sunday’s 20-12 defeat at reigning champions Leeds.
Sculthorpe is already looking at a longer-term Giants deal.
And he knows the best way of landing one is to play a leading role in his new club’s bid to make the play-offs.
"It was a steady first game for me," said the ex-Wigan man.
"Hopefully I can get a bit more game time against Castleford on Friday and I can progress from there each week.
"I’ve had a couple of tough weeks since I got here working under Bumper (head conditioner Mark Andrews), who’s been training me really hard, but it’s something I needed and I’m sure it will benefit me for the rest of the season.
