Huddersfield Giants' Griffin cleared to face Salford City Reds

HUDDERSFIELD prop Darrell Griffin has been cleared to face Salford City Reds on Friday after avoiding the threat of suspension.

The former Wakefield Trinity front rower was found guilty by the Rugby Football League’s disciplinary panel of a reckless tackle in the Giants’ 13-6 defeat by Castleford Tigers, but escaped with a £300 fine.

However, with Giants coach Nathan Brown hinted that fellow prop Paul Jackson may get the starting berth at the Willows and there was no guarantee that Griffin will make the team.

"It’s good Griff is available for us, because his last two games have probably been his best since I have been here," said Brown.

However, Brown is looking at his options with Jackson and on-loan Lee Mossop firmly in the frame.

The coach also revealed that centre Jamahl Lolesi will be side-lined for two weeks with a minor knee injury.

Catalans Dragons forward Jamal Fakir was handed a two-match ban and a £300 fine after being found guilty of a high tackle on Warrington winger Matt King in his side’s defeat in Barcelona.
