"In one sense, it’s good that it was Brett who threw out those intercepts and not someone else, because Brett’s one of the most experienced and best players around and he’ll be able to deal positively with a setback like this.

"He knows that and we know that."

And Brown knows Hodgson needs to put in a top performance against the City Reds tonight to help the Giants get back on track.

"The last two defeats have been tough to take and we’ve lost a bit of momentum as a result," added the in-form 24-year-old stand-off.

"But we all know where we’re going wrong and what we need to do to fix things up.

"We’re determined to do that tonight."
