Opposition guide: Salford City Reds

SHAUN ‘Bomber’ McRae continues to do an excellent job as head coach of Salford City Reds.

Last season, he guided the Manchester-based club back into Super League at the first attempt and is now moulding them into a very solid and competitive top-flight side.

But that’s the least to be expected form any team coached by the popular and vastly-experienced Australian.

He has been a familiar face in British rugby league since winning the inaugural Super League title with St Helens in 1996.

SALFORD teenager Richie Myler is the man of the moment.

The 19-year-old scrum half shot to fame as part of Salford’s National League I Grand Final-winning side in 2008 and has gone from strength to strength in Super League this season.

But his crowning glory so far came 13 days ago when he scored a hat trick and kicked nine goals in England’s 66-12 thrashing of France in Paris.

That proved exactly what a rising star Myler is, and it is rumoured a number of rival Super League clubs are keen to secure his signature on the back of such an outstanding start to his top-flight career.
