Giants' Tom Hemingway back on loan

GIANTS half-back Tom Hemingway has joined leading Co-operative Championship club Leigh on loan.

The 22-year-old trained with his new teammates for the first time last night and is expected to make his debut at Whitehaven on Sunday.

Hemingway has also had loan spells with Batley in 2007 and at Halifax last month.

And Centurions boss and former Giants hooker Paul Rowley is delighted to have got Hemingway on board.

“Tom Hemingway is an up and coming prospect who has been unlucky with injuries in recent seasons,” said Rowley.

“But he’s got great potential and I feel we are really lucky to have got him.

“He looked very sharp in training and it hopefully won’t take him too long to fit in and become a brilliant acquisition for us.”

Hemingway has initially joined Leigh for a month but that could be extended once the initial period is complete.

Leeds Rhinos won their derby clash with Bradford at Headingley 33-20, while St Helens were 30-0 winners against Celtic Crusaders.
