Kevin Brown ready to make up for Challenge Cup disappointment

KEVIN BROWN has admitted reaching the Challenge Cup final with the Giants would make up for the frustration he felt in 2006.

The 24-year-old half-back moved to Huddersfield from Wigan midway through the 2006 campaign.

That meant he was Cup-tied for Huddersfield as they faced St Helens at Twickenham in the club’s first Challenge Cup final appearance in 40 years.

Although Brown was delighted to see his teammates in action on such a massive rugby league stage, he admits it was tough having to watch from the stands.

And with the Giants set for a semi-final showdown with St Helens at Warrington on August 9, Brown is desperate to do everything within his power to make sure he doesn’t miss out second time around and can take his place in a Wembley Stadium final later in the month.

“I was absolutely delighted for the boys that they were involved in something as big as a Challenge Cup final,” recalled Brown.

“But, at the same time, I did feel as if I was missing out.

“The club tried to involve me as much as they could in the build-up, but it obviously wasn’t the same.

“Knowing I wasn’t going to be out there in the side in the final itself was pretty tough.

“I just hope we have the chance to play in a final again, and this time I’ll be out there with them.”

But in St Helens, Brown knows his side is going to have to be at their very best to beat them.
