Praise as Giant Wild hits century

STEPHEN WILD will make his 100th Giants appearance against Wakefield with head coach Nathan Brown hailing the role of one of his star Huddersfield men.

The 28-year-old former Great Britain international will return to the back row in Sunday’s home derby clash as the Giants look to strengthen their fourth-placed Super League spot.

Wild starred at centre in the 34-10 triumph against Salford, but with Jamahl Lolesi in line for a return to the three-quarters after recovering from a knee injury, former Wigan favourite Wild will be back in his favoured place.

"I’m delighted for Wildy – he does a tremendous job for the side," said Brown about the man who became the first Giants player to be named in the Super League Dream Team in 2007.

"He’s a really hard worker, who has a very high defensive rate and also knows how to finish when the opportunity comes along.

"A lot of the work he does goes unnoticed because it involves the tidying up on the defensive side, but it really is a vital role.
