Five-year deal for big Eorl Crabtree
"We’re now challenging for Super League Grand Final and Challenge Cup honours, playing in a world-class stadium and in front of growing crowds.
"At a time when I have gained full international honours and I’m approaching my prime as a prop forward, I had no hesitation in committing myself to the Giants for the next six years.
"And to receive official notification of a testimonial by the RFL at the same time as pledging virtually the rest of my career to the Giants amplifies my personal passion for the club.
"My testimonial, under the chairmanship of my first professional coach, Brian Blacker, is being designed to provide a wide-range of events for Giants fans and will kick off on December 1 with a major event at the Town Hall."
Such is Crabtree’s standing in the game that he would have had the pick of any club in Super League.
And Giants managing director Richard Thewlis is understandably delighted.
"Eorl Crabtree is a role model to all young Huddersfield sportsmen. He has been a huge part of our club for many years and to have him pledge his long-term future to his local team is a great boost for us," he said.
"I sincerely hope the people of Huddersfield give Eorl every possible support during his testimonial year."
