Huddersfield Giants winger David Hodgson sets sights on play-offs

“There is no doubt that all our players put in the effort and I don’t think anyone will question that – but it wasn’t our day.”

Hodgson would be forgiven for feeling aggrieved that he could have had two tries at Wembley as video referee Phil Bentham ruled against his touchdown in the 23rd minute – referred by referee Steve Ganson for an obstruction by Shaun Lunt on Wolves defender Chris Bridge as he sought to get in a tackle on Kevin Brown – would not stand.

As calls go it was a tough one and one deliberated on for a long time, but Hodgson thought he had scored.

“I suppose we can look at it as many times as we like, but the referee’s call is the call that counts,” said Hodgson.

“We were still very much in the game at that stage and things would have been so much closer had that try been allowed.

“In my eyes I don’t think that Bridge was going to get near Browny (Kevin Brown), but we just had to get on with the game.

“But we cannot moan about referee’s calls because it won’t change anything.”

THE Senior Giants next meeting is this afternoon at 2.15pm in the Fantastic Media suite at the Galpharm Stadium when the guest speaker will be the club’s managing director Richard Thewlis.
