Liam Fulton determined to see Giants build on big Challenge Cup final experience

TOP Giants defender Liam Fulton has relished the chance to knuckle back down to training and prepare for the rest of the Super League season.

The 25-year-old back-row forward, pictured right, was one of the Huddersfield players to emerge with credit during Saturday’s 25-16 Challenge Cup final defeat at the hands of Warrington at Wembley.

Official Rugby Football League statistics from Opta have revealed Fulton made more tackles than any other player on either side during the contest – 38 – and didn’t miss any.

But that came as no consolation to the former Wests Tigers star, who is now ready to work extra hard to guarantee success on the Super League front, starting at Celtic Crusaders on Saturday.

“The final against Warrington really was a massive disappointment,” said Fulton, who could be set to switch from the second row to stand-off for the rest of the season to cover for the injured Kevin Brown (knee).

“We didn’t play to the gameplan, we executed poorly, made silly mistakes and got punished for it.

“It wasn’t the sort of performance we’ve come to expect from the Giants.

“Warrington outplayed us, and that’s tough to take.

“But we’ve got no time to dwell on it.

“After you’ve suffered a defeat like this the best thing you can do is knuckle straight back down in training and just get on with it.
