Historic England call-up for Giants star Eorl Crabtree

EORL CRABTREE has been called up to face Australia to give England the size advantage in tomorrow’s Four Nation’s clash at Wigan’s DW Stadium (2.30).

England chief Tony Smith has made it clear his side’s strength lies in the pack, and that by including the likes of Giants favourite Crabtree, the home nation can bully the Kangaroos into submission.

With captain Jamie Peacock, Adrian Morley, James Graham, Sam Burgess and Gareth Ellis, England aren’t lacking in strength up front.

And with the 6ft 6in, 18st Crabtree ready to be introduced off the bench, Smith is confident the forwards can lay a matchwinning platform.

“We’ve got a big pack and we consider that as part of our strength,” said Smith.

“And that strength has been increased with the inclusion of Eorl Crabtree.

“He’s a big boy who has had a tremendous season this year.

“Even when Huddersfield had a couple of lean games, he’s still been a shining light for them.

“He’s made a big impact for them off the bench. He’s got some offload and some size and second-phase play to his game.

“He’s a big man to handle and he’s ready for it. He’s been itching for this opportunity for years and years now.”
