Giants Squad for Super League XV

IT’S seven players in and seven players out for the Giants ahead of Super League XV.

Those arriving including six who go straight into the senior squad, as well as former Castleford Tigers first-teamer Jamie Cording, who has arrived from Gateshead Thunder and is in the process of trying to earn a place in head coach Nathan Brown’s Super League set-up.

The seven players featured in the ‘out’ column are those who were in Huddersfield’s original Super League XIV squad and don’t include Liam Fulton (now back at Wests Tigers in Australia) and Danny Sculthorpe (Bradford Bulls) who joined the Giants on loan deals later in the season.

Players in: Jamie Cording (Gateshead), Brad Drew (Wakefield), David Fa’alogo (South Sydney), Lee Gilmour (St Helens), Graeme Horne (Hull FC), Scott Grix (Wakefield), Kyle Wood (Sheffield Eagles).

Players out: Tom Hemingway (Blackpool Panthers), Paul Jackson (Castleford Tigers), Michael Korkidas (Wakefield), Chris Lawson (released), Richard Lopag (Castleford), Scott Moore (St Helens), Joe Walsh (released).

1 - Brett Hodgson

THE Giants’ inspirational captain. The 31-year-old goalkicking full-back crowned his season by being named the Man of Steel.

2 - Leroy Cudjoe

ESTABLISHED himself in the Giants’ first-team in 2009, and the 21-year-old ex-Newome Panther should have another big year.

3 - Jamahl Lolesi

JAMMER has been the model of consistency in his three seasons at the Giants, with the 28-year-old handed a new two-year extension.

4 - Paul Whatuira

THE 28-year-old former Kiwi ace will be looking to maintain the form he has shown in his first two seasons in the claret and gold.

5 - David Hodgson

THE 28-year-old Great Britain winger finished as the club’s top scorer and the third top in Super League last season with 18 tries.

6 - Kevin Brown

CEMENTING his position at stand-off with a superb 2009 campaign, the 25-year-old is expected to get even better.

7 - Luke Robinson

THE 25 year-old scrum half finished 2009 season with seven tries from an ever-present 33 appearances and will again be a potent threat.

8 - Eorl Crabtree

AS the biggest man in Super League, the 27-year-old will again make a big impact on the back of his England Four Nations heroics.

9 - Shaun Lunt

THE former Workington part-timer shot to prominence in 2009 with 15 tries from 21 appearances and the 22-year-old is now the top hooker.

10 - Keith Mason

NAMED the Coaches Player of the Year in 2009, the 28-year-old is one of the top metre-makers and toughest props in the game.

11 - Lee Gilmour

A MASSIVE new signing from St Helens, the 31-year-old ex-Great Britain back-rower’s winning pedigree will prove decisive.

12 - David Fa'alogo

THE 29-year-old played a starring role for New Zealand in their 2008 World Cup triumph and his aggression will be of huge benefit.

13 - Stephen Wild

A FORMER Wigan favourite, the 28-year-old Great Britain ace will be hoping for another top year after undergoing knee surgery.

14 - Simon Finnigan

RENOWNED for his hard-working ethic and uncanny eye for the tryline, the 28-year-old Ireland star is in his second season.

15 - Andy Raleigh

A MODEL of consistency, the Huddersfield-born 28-year-old is relishing the move from second row to prop forward.
