Larne Patrick earns new two-year deal with Giants

“When he arrived here it was on the back of having no pre-season with us, and it took him a bit of time to start to make a positive impact.

“But on the back of working hard, his talent began to show through and by the end of last season he was putting in some solid performances for us in Super League.

“This time around he’s had a terrific pre-season and proved that with an outstanding stint at Castleford last week. There’s no question he’s developing all the time.

“And the fact he’s got the leg speed to play out on the edge in the second row and also has the toughness to play in the middle in the front row makes him a very valuable player to have around.”

That utility value could give Patrick the nod for a spot in the 17 for Friday’s top-flight clash.

“As well as Larne, there were a number of other very solid performances from the forwards last Tuesday, and that’s not making selection easy,” added Brown.

“There are going to be some very unlucky people on Friday night.”
