Brett Hodgson column: Young Giants forward Larne Patrick already proving his Super League worth

LARNE PATRICK, right, earned a fair amount of praise for his performance at Hull KR, and rightly so.

I’ve been watching with interest the way this talented young forward has been developing since he joined us just before the start of last season.

He made a steady start to his time here, but I think he really took a big step forward with his performance at St Helens the week before the Challenge Cup final.

Even though we were lacking a number of our first-choice forwards that night, Larne relished the battle and was one of our best players on the night.

That performance appeared to do wonders for his confidence, and he hasn’t really looked back since then.

And there’s no doubt with players like him, Leroy Cudjoe and Michael Lawrence around the future for the club does look very bright.

IT seems a fair amount of the talk ahead of our game against Warrington this weekend is being focused on our desire to gain revenge for the Wolves beating us in last season’s Challenge Cup final at Wembley.

That appears to be a recurring theme in the media and among a number of fans.

But it’s not something we’ve really spoken about as a squad.

Yes, we were disappointed by our performance and the defeat at Wembley, but for us revenge won’t be the main factor when we step onto the Galpharm pitch on Sunday.
