Brett Hodgson column: Getting an injury can be a real pain!

GETTING an injury can be a real pain – literally!

My latest obviously came in our game against Warrington on Sunday, with an ankle ligament injury keeping me on the sidelines for the next month.

Unfortunately, injuries are part and parcel of the game and, as a professional player, they’re something which you have to live with.

I knew almost straight away when I rolled my left ankle chasing a kick-through with about 15 minutes of the Warrington game to go I’d done some damage.

But I was desperate to carry on, because we were just one score behind and we felt we could come back and win the game.

The fact we didn’t was probably as painful as the injury itself!

However, that’s all gone now, and rather than dwelling on my own misfortune I’m going to do everything I can over the next couple of weeks to provide my support during training.

If anyone wants any advice I’ll be there, because that’s something I’m still in a position to do. It makes me feel as if I’m being of some use.

That’s also a way to make sure I’m not whingeing and feeling sorry for myself, as that can rub off on the players around me, which is something I’m sure Nathan wouldn’t thank me for!
