GIANTS star Stephen Wild has been ruled out for six to eight weeks.
The 28-year-old back-row forward suffered a knee injury during the 24-6 defeat to St Helens on Sunday.
Coach Nathan Brown’s former Great Britain international has suffered cruciate ligament damage.
The injury was assessed in a scan last night. It’s not the same knee which previously ruled out the former Wigan player.
The news comes on the day it was revealed Keith Mason is ready to return.
The no-nonsense 28-year-old prop is expected to be named in the Huddersfield squad for Friday’s home Super League clash against Catalans Dragons.
Mason has not played since he suffered a torn pectoral muscle in the first few minutes of the Giants’ 24-12 opening-night triumph over Bradford Bulls at the Galpharm on February 5.
A slight setback meant Mason’s return was delayed a week, but he is now feeling fully fit.
"Because I got the injury so early against Bradford, I feel as if my season hasn’t started yet," said Mason, who had a double hernia operation during the close-season.
