Huddersfield Giants' Wild: My injury nightmare is behind me

STEPHEN WILD is desperate to put his injury nightmares behind him and prove he deserves a new Giants deal.

The 29-year-old former Great Britain back-rower will make his Super League return against former club Wigan at the Galpharm on Sunday.

It will be Wild’s first game since he suffered a knee injury in the home defeat to St Helens on March 28.

That was just his third match since recovering from surgery on his other knee at the end of last season which forced him to miss the start of the 2010 campaign.

And Wild is now hoping he can finally get his season going and secure his playing future in the process.

“It’s been another tough couple of months for me, and I hope it’s now come to an end,” said Wild.

“Obviously, after I’d had the surgery last year, I was hoping I would be able to have another great season with the Giants.

“But as soon as I felt I was getting back to my best again I did my other knee in a freak accident against Saints.

“That was a really low moment, but I’m feeling good again and ready to play.

“I probably could have played against Warrington last week, which I’d have loved to have done.
