Andy Raleigh column: Let’s ruin the Wigan party

This is a big blow for us as well as Larne, who even though it is only his second season as a full-time player has been playing like a Super League regular. In fact, it’s a standing joke now in video review sessions, that Larne always makes at least one clean break a game.

Having spoken to Larne this week, the good news is that specialists seem to think it isn’t as bad as first thought. This is another reason for Giants fans to keep their fingers crossed, and hopefully Larne can make a welcome return this year.

Next week’s game against Wigan will be our toughest going into the play-off competition and I’m sure all the boys will want to hit some form during the business end of the year.

The added incentive, if we needed one, will be to act as party-poopers next Sunday.

Sky TV has decided to cover the game, because a Wigan victory will give them the League Leaders Trophy.

With all eyes on the game, it would be great to rise to the occasion and do our bit to spoil their party.

To finish with, I’d like to say well done to all four of our lads who made it into the England squad recently.

Kevin Brown, Shaun Lunt, Eorl Crabtree and Leroy Cudjoe are testament to our club’s success at developing talent.

No-one more so than with Leroy’s entry into the international set up. When I heard the news I was thrilled, because I know how hard he works and how much he deserves the recognition.

He has developed into a great player and I genuinely believe he could be an England regular.

To all the lads, it’s very well deserved, well done!
