Huddersfield Giants star Jamahl Lolesi’s column: Live the dream!
Aug 28 2010 by Chris Roberts, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
HI, it’s Jammer here.
Wow! What a way to finish a long but enjoyable home campaign in the regular season by thrashing Salford to romp into the semi-finals and give ourselves a real shot at this year’s competition!
With four wins out of four and a bit of momentum behind us, confidence is growing and there can be no doubt if we turn up with the right attitude at Catalans Dragons next Saturday, victory will be ours and fifth place will be secured.
That would mean an opening home tie in the play-offs, so let’s all get behind the boys for a final push and may be, just may be, the dream will be alive!
It was also our awards night this week and a big congratulations to all the award winners, in particular David Faiumu, Kevin Brown and David Hodgson, who made it a clean sweep, and well deserved too!
With such competition this year, these three have really stood out, and I’m happy to see David Faiumu win the Players’ Player, particularly as it’s so extraordinary to win it as the majority of his games have come from the substitutes’ bench!
This just goes to show how good a player he his and also underrated – although obviously not by his teammates.
He is genuinely a great friend, professional and good family man, and I’m glad to see him get some recognition for his on-field efforts.
Now, on to other more important news.
There has been a lot of ‘who-ha’ about some recent shenanigans down at Giants HQ, with captain Brett Hodgson on the receiving end.
Brett’s told me to try and blame poor old Brad Drew for what’s been going on. Well, sorry, Kev (Brown), this one is all on you!
And, just to let you know what on earth I’m talking about, it involves the word ‘Wolves’ being written on top of Brett’s car in big yellow letters!
