Davy delight at Giants’ historic day
GIANTS chairman Ken Davy has hailed the selection of six Huddersfield players for the England Four Nations squad as a historic moment in the club’s history.
Huddersfield provide the biggest contingent with the half dozen including uncapped quartet Shaun Lunt, Leroy Cudjoe, Luke Robinson and Darrell Griffin, who join prop Eorl Crabtree and playmaker Kevin Brown in England coach (and former Giants skipper) Steve McNamara’s 24-strong squad to tour Australia and New Zealand.
Davy greeted the call-ups with great pride and said: “It is a fantastic day for the club without doubt.
“We talk about the year on year progression that the Giants are making and this is absolutely concrete evidence of that fact.
“To have the highest number of representatives from any club in the squad is terrific news for everyone at the Giants.
“It is testament to all the work that is done by the coaches and staff to give our players the best possible opportunities to shine and I am sure that Nathan (Brown) is extremely proud of each and every one of them, as we all are.
“These players, like everyone at the club, give their absolute all to the claret and gold and the reward of an England tour to Australia is simply fantastic for them.
“The Giants ended the year just 30 minutes short of a Grand Final appearance and they will head off to the series with the very best wishes from us all at this great club.
“We know that they will represent themselves, the Giants and England with great pride, skill and determination to be part of a Four Nations winning team.”
