Former Huddersfield Giant Paul Whatuira joining Parramatta Eels

FORMER Huddersfield Giants star Paul Whatuira (left) is delighted to be resurrecting his career in Australia with Parramatta Eels.

Whatuira, 29,Šhas agreed a one-year deal with the option for a further year after meeting new Eels coach Stephen Kearney, a former teammate.

Whatuira was set to retire after a three-year stint with Huddersfield ended following a breakdown and admission to a psychiatric unit.

“It’s a good opportunity for me to try and establish myself back in the NRL. It’s been three years, and I’m really looking forward to it,” he said.

“I was contemplating retirement, but one door closes, another opens.”
