JARROD SAMMUT is a player with the X Factor.
The jack-in-the-box Aussie took Super League by storm on his debut in last year’s Magic Weekend victory over Bradford Bulls in Edinburgh when he crowned his arrival with a magical solo try.
That proved to be the first of many quality performances for the Crusaders that season and earned former Penrith Panthers man Sammut the "Super League Overseas Newcomer of the Year" award at the end of the season.
And even though the Crusaders have found the going tough this year, Sammut is still proving a real handful.
TEN rounds into the Super League XVI season and Crusaders find themselves in the position no-one else wants – rock bottom!
But even before a ball had been kicked or passed in anger, there were fears this could be a tough year for the men from Wrexham.
Despite reaching the Super League play-offs last season, where they narrowly lost to the Giants at the Galpharm Stadium, everything quickly fell apart.
First, former Great Britain boss Brian Noble departed as head coach, then the club went into administration and star players began to leave.
Pack leader Weller Hauraki joined Leeds and leading tryscorer Nick Youngquest left for Castleford.
