Huddersfield Giants make changes as they look to bounce back against Salford

NATHAN BROWN is confident the Giants will bounce straight back with a top-of-the-table performance at home to Salford City Reds tomorrow (7.00).

The Galpharm chief admits his side are still smarting from Friday’s shock 32-6 defeat at bottom club Crusaders, which cost the Giants their place at the top of the Super League XVI table.

Changes will be made in the wake of Huddersfield’s third loss of the season, although Brown had already confirmed last week that a slight reshuffle was being planned to accommodate the busy Easter programme.

That, however, didn’t include Luke Robinson, who picked up a bang to the ribs during the contest in North Wales and has been left out.

He will be joined on the sidelines by Lee Gilmour, Graeme Horne, Larne Patrick and Jamie Simpson, who also played against the Crusaders and could be back in contention for Saturday’s trip to Catalan Dragons.

In their places will be the likes of Dale Ferguson, David Hodgson, Luke O’Donnell and Andy Raleigh, with all four in the reckoning for a place in the starting line-up.

But whatever side Brown sends onto the field, he is obviously looking for a massive improvement.

“Friday’s performance was clearly not up to the standard we expect,” said Brown.

“As a group we need to do a lot better for each other and make sure we play with a level of effort, attitude and commitment that was so badly lacking at Crusaders. I’m sure this is a lesson we will all learn.

“The key for us now is to bounce back well and ensure we put in a much better performance against Salford.

“We need to start building some momentum again as quickly as possible and make sure we don’t start slipping back in the table.”
