PAUL ANDERSON is happy to play the waiting game.
The former Great Britain prop had been regarded as the red-hot favourite to take over as head coach of the Giants when Nathan Brown returned to Australia at the end of the season after completing his three-year stint.
But Brown ended a month of speculation by announcing last week he had agreed a 12-month contract extension until the end of the 2012 campaign.
It was a decision that could have hit Anderson hard, with the 39-year-old making no secret of his desire to become a head coach.
But despite next season being his sixth as the Giants No2, he admits he is happy to bide his time and is relishing the opportunity to spend at least another year working under Brown.
“This news is a real positive for everyone at the club, including me,” said Anderson.
“If no-one got on with Browny and didn’t respect him, then it would have been a different story.
“But everyone has 100% respect for him as a coach and as a person, and we’re all delighted we’ll be working with him for another year.
