HUDDERSFIELD Giants will be desperate to put their heartbreaking 40-36 Valvoline Cup home defeat to Salford behind them when they host St Helens at Huddersfield YMCA tonight (7.30).
The narrow weekend loss kept the Giants rooted to the foot of the table, with just two wins from their 18 fixtures.
But with Saints having had an up-and-down season, Under 20s coach Andy Jordan will be hoping his side can find the perfect response to the agonising reverse against the Reds.
Huddersfield man-of-the-match Matty Dawson led the tryscoring for his side with a brace, while there were also scores from Darren Lamb, Owain Griffiths, Jamie Cording and Gregg McNally, who also landed six goals.
And the Giants will be hoping that if they can score 36 points again tonight, they will be able to put in a far more accomplished defensive display and make sure that’s a winning score.
Giants: Gorman; F Walker, Dawson, Clarke, Shoel; McNally, Whitehead; A Walker, Griffiths, Orwell, Fox, Cording, Briggs. Subs: Whiteley, Peltier, Hall, Davies.
