Joe Wardle happy with his Huddersfield Giants return

FIT-AGAIN Joe Wardle arrived at training today with words of praise from Giants coach Nathan Brown ringing in his ears.

The 19-year-old marked his first game in seven weeks following a hamstring injury with two well-taken try in the 50-12 home Super League triumph over Harlequins.

The former Bradford Bulls centre is already establishing himself as one of Huddersfield’s most effective strike weapons.

That prompted Brown to admit he regards Wardle as a ‘terrific young player’ and someone capable of going on to have the brightest of futures.

“I was only talking to (Warrington coach and ex-Giants chief) Tony Smith about Joe yesterday morning,” said Brown.

“I told him he may not have the name of a Chris Bridge or Joel Tomkins, but he’s as important to us as they are to their team.

“To do as well against Quins as he did after so long out injured highlights how valuable a player he is to our club.”
