Nathan Brown: We’ll see a different Giants side this week

Has the main task this week been trying to lift the players after the heavy defeat at Warrington, so they’ll be ready to host Leeds tomorrow night?

It’s a sudden death game, so I don’t think the guys will need lifting too much.

I’m sure they’ll give us a good response and produce a far more effective performance.

We actually played really well against Leeds the week before and put in a really good game the week before that (against Harlequins).

Unfortunately, it just wasn’t our night the other night.

If you play Warrington and you’re a little off your game and they’re on top of theirs, they’ve got the potential to do what they did to us. We certainly gave their key players far too much latitude.

In fact, they’ve put a score on every team in the competition at some stage this year, including Wigan.

But we also shouldn’t forget we’ve beaten Warrington a couple of times this year, so I don’t think we should look too much into what happened and dwell too long on the events of last Friday night.

The occasion of the game and the fact it was a semi-final made it a touch worse.

What we’ve got to do is put it behind us and move on, because I think the players know the coaching staff have got belief in them and I’m sure they know they’ve got the belief in each other.

So do you get the sense the players can’t wait to get back out onto the field tomorrow night?

Obviously, everyone was down on Friday night and during recovery the following morning.

And everyone was still disappointed after the review, because you never like to lose a semi-final, particularly in that fashion.

But, as I’ve already said, Warrington are capable of putting a score on any side, and for us we’re still alive and have the chance to right some wrongs against Leeds tomorrow night.

That’s a view shared by everyone throughout the club, and there’s no better way of showing what we’re still capable of achieving than in a home game against Leeds in a knock-out semi-final. That’s great!

With the form Leeds Rhinos are showing, they’re going to take some beating, aren’t they?

Everyone still involved at this stage is going to take some beating.

Although there were some big scores in the games last weekend, I think if you spoke to the teams that did the scores, they’d admit they went into the games expecting to have to play well to win.

The fact one or two of the teams they faced were a bit down contributed to the scores we all saw.

So I’d be surprised if Leeds came here tomorrow night thinking they could go half pace and beat us.

That means we’ll be ready to face a Leeds side determined to give it everything.

We’ve now reached the time of the year when every game is going to be tough.

You’ve got Leroy Cudjoe, Joe Wardle and Dale Ferguson all returning from injury and expected to play. But were you planning on making changes anyway in the wake of last Friday night?
