FORMER Gateshead Thunder coach Richard Pell has joined the Giants as Head of Talent Identification.

Pell’s role is effectively that of head scout and involves the recruitment of players for the club across all grades, paying particular attention to talented youngsters for the Scholarship scheme and Academy.

As a result, he will be part of the club’s Youth Development team.

And with his background in the game, Pell, pictured, is expected to prove an important signing.

As well as being head coach at Co-operative Championship I club Gateshead, Pell was previously Reserve Grade coach and Academy coach at Super League Castleford Tigers.

He is also a former Academy chief at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and, before that, worked for the Rugby Football League on junior regional and national camps.

But he feels this new challenge at the Giants could prove one of the most rewarding.

“Huddersfield is a club steeped in tradition and one of the original member clubs, so hopefully I can play a part in its future,” said Pell.
