IT’S time for some of the Giants to take a bow.
According to new head conditioner Greg Brown, Huddersfield’s Super League squad is now even fitter, faster and stronger.
The acid test will obviously come on Sunday, February 5 when the Giants open their 2012 competitive account at Wigan Warriors.
But under Brown’s new regime, positive results have been recorded across the board as the Giants adapt to the former rehabilitation chief’s new methods.
Having been in charge of the players’ recovery following injury for the previous three seasons, the former University of Huddersfield student already knows a fair amount about what the members of the squad can and can’t do.
As a result, Brown knows exactly how far he can push the players individually.
And he now believes he can push them further than ever before.
But which players have really caught Brown’s eye in the countdown to the Super League XVII campaign?
Which players in the Giants squad really are the fittest, fastest and strongest?
“The first thing I can really say, is that everyone has impressed me,” said Brown, who has gained rugby league experience himself with Underbank in the Conference National League and Moldgreen in the Pennine League.
“Every single player has given me 100% and I obviously can’t ask any more than that.
“Because of that, I regard every day I come to work as an absolute honour, and seeing what these guys can do never ceases to amaze me.
“They’re all athletes of the very highest order, and have the attitude to match.
“On sheer effort alone, the Giants deserve to be the best in Super League.
“But there’s no question some have impressed me more than others, and for that they do deserve some recognition.
“I’ve been around the club for a few years now and in that time I’ve seen some incredibly fit players.
“And among those, Scott Grix has to be right up there as one of the fittest I’ve seen.
