David Fa’alogo hoping his Huddersfield Giants injury woes are firmly behind him

DAVID FA’ALOGO can finally see some light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

In the two years the former New Zealand Test back-row forward has been at the Giants, he has been plagued by injury.

Mystery surrounded the reason why the 31-year-old kept suffering hamstring injuries which kept him on the sidelines for months, with many medical experts left baffled.

On several occasions, the problem appeared to have been solved and Fa’alogo returned to the field to regularly show what a prize Huddersfield asset he could be.

But just when it looked as if his injury nightmare was behind him, the problem would again rear its ugly head.

To say it left former South Sydney ace Fa’alogo frustrated and demoralised was an understatement.

Yet now the outlook is far more positive.

Towards the end of last year, the mystery was solved and his long-standing problem could finally be resolved.

It was discovered all his hamstring woes were related to a serious back problem, with surgery the only answer.

Yes, it means Fa’alogo won’t be able to return to Giants’ Super League action until March.

But it should also mean that when he does step back onto the field he should be 100% fit and get back to the form that made him a Kiwi regular when his nation was at the height of its rugby league powers a few years ago.
