HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS star David Faiumu has got a feeling similar to that of a child on Christmas Eve.

But the former New Zealand Test ace is not eagerly waiting for presents!

Instead, the 28-year-old just can’t wait for the Giants’ Super League XVII campaign to begin, despite his injury ruling him out of the start of the season.

When Faiumu returns following major shoulder surgery, he probably won’t be featuring in his previously favoured position of hooker as he now looks set to see out his time at the Galpharm playing at loose forward.

Faiumu has no issue with the role and he knows the team will be well catered for out of dummy half this year.

“I can’t wait for it all to begin again,” he announced,

“I get that feeling before every season where you just want it all to hurry on, get out there and start playing with the boys again.

“I’ll be playing in the back row this season because obviously we’ve got an abundance of talent at hooker with the likes of Luke Robinson, Shaun Lunt and now Tommy Lee, who I’ve really been impressed with.

“But if Browny needs me to fill in anywhere I’ll happily play any position in the team.”
