HUDDERSFIELD-BORN Michael Lawrence is determined to celebrate his 100th Giants appearance in style.
The former Newsome Panthers junior is ready to continue in his new back-row role in today’s home clash against Salford City Reds (3.00) as the Giants look to keep hold of their grip at the top of the Super League standings.
And the 21-year-old former centre, who made his senior debut as a substitute in a 34-22 triumph at Warrington in 2007, would love to mark his century by helping the Giants secure win No8 of the campaign.
“I can’t believe how quickly it’s come around,” said Lawrence.
“When I first signed for the club I never imagined I’d reach a landmark like this.
“When I made my debut I was just proud to say I’d played for the Giants at this level just the once!
“But now I’m ready to play my 100th game and I want to make sure it’s a special occasion.
“After winning at Leeds last week to go back to the top, the confidence and spirit in the camp is sky high and we’re determined to build on that as quickly as possible.
“Salford have started the season well, but we’re looking forward to the challenge and I’d love to have a big game on such a big day.”
