Huddersfield Giants playmaker Danny Brough: There’s no need for us to panic

INSPIRATIONAL playmaker Danny Brough feels there’s no cause for panic – despite the Giants having lost their last three Super League games.

After losing away to Catalan and at home to leaders Wigan earlier in the month, Huddersfield hit a season’s low with the 38-34 Magic Weekend defeat to Salford six days ago.

As a result, the Giants have slumped from first to fourth in the top-flight table ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Super League strugglers Widnes Vikings (3.00).

The loss of form has led to a barrage of criticism across the board.

But while Brough accepts the recent comments regarding the Giants’ performances, he doesn’t feel it’s all doom and gloom

“The criticism was rightly so,” said the 28-year-old goalkicing ace.

“Little things we got wrong again against Salford killed us, but we’re not bothered what goes in the papers.

“I don’t think we performed on the night against Wigan the week before and we were beaten by a better side.

“We know ourselves we were disappointed with the Wigan game, and we were even more disappointed against Salford. We just need to get back up and try to keep winning.

“But there’s certainly no case of panic stations.

“We’re sitting fourth in Super League, we’re in the Challenge Cup semi-finals and we’re pretty happy where we are, just not where we’re going.

“We’ve got to fix that up ourselves, and we will.”
