RETURNING Giants hooker Scott Moore is determined to prove his head coach right – starting at home to Hull KR tonight (8.00).
The 24-year-old (left) arrived back at the Galpharm Stadium two months ago after being axed by Super League new boys Widnes Vikings for off-field reasons.
That didn’t prevent Brown immediately bringing him back to the club where he served with distinction in 2009.
During his year-long loan spell from St Helens, Moore made his England Test debut in France, helped the Giants reach the Carnegie Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium and finished the year as the Super League Dream Team hooker.
By Moore’s own admission, he’s still got a long way to go in 2012 to reach those dizzy heights.
But with Brown having stated last week that he feels his new No9 is just weeks away from re-discovering his outstanding 2009 form, Moore is determined to make sure the prediction comes true.
“I’d love to get to that level again. It’s simply down to me,” said Moore.
“I have to admit it was tough when I first got back here. For a start, my fitness levels were nowhere near up to that of the rest of the boys.
“But it’s getting there now, as too is my form.
“It’s not something you can just get back overnight, but because I’m playing more minutes it’s allowing me to get back to how I know I can play. It’s just about taking it one week at a time.
“And I know that if anyone is going to get me back to my best it’ll be Browny.
“When I went back to Saints at the end of 2009, I left here on good terms, so it was quite easy to get back into the whole routine here.
“Browny is just the same old Browny, we’ve got a good relationship and I really like working with him. I know how good a coach he is and he’ll definitely bring the best out of me as player.
“I just hope I can contribute even more against Hull KR tonight.”
