HUDDERSFIELD Giants head coach Paul Anderson is confident Danny Brough’s England ‘snub’ will prove a massive benefit to the club.
While the England squad today jetted off for a 10-day training camp in South Africa ahead of the internationals against France and Wales, Huddersfield’s inspirational half-back was left at home and told his services won’t be required this autumn.
Brough (pictured left) would have been available to play, with the 29-year-old close to making a full recovery from a groin injury suffered in the play-off defeat at Hull last month.
But while Giants chief Anderson is disappointed Brough has been overlooked – despite being in England’s Elite Training Squad – he knows that’s a big bonus for the Super League club.
“We’re all hugely disappointed for Broughy,” said Anderson.
“You can see he gives everything to everything he does, so not being part of this autumn’s England squad is bound to hit him really hard.
“The key now is for him to harness the frustration he feels at being left out and get the best out of him for the Giants.
“If that’s the case, then we know what a massive benefit that will be to the club.”
The Giants are still being represented in South Africa, with centre Leroy Cudjoe part of the 24-man squad.
Prop Eorl Crabtree would also have made the trip had he not undergone elbow and shoulder surgery at the end of the season.
