JARROD SAMMUT has admitted the Bradford Bulls were handed a massive Super League wake-up call by the Giants.

The nature of the 42-6 Magic Weekend defeat to Huddersfield has hit the men from Odsal hard.

Inspirational Australian stand-off Sammut felt coach Francis Cummins’ men “crucified” themselves after failing to stick to the gameplan during the thumping.

And he is calling for a major improvement as the Bulls bid to re-ignite their campaign at Hull KR on Sunday.

“You look at our performances this year and we’ve never thrown in the towel,” said Sammut.

“You can’t question the effort, it’s always there. But the little things, like staying composed, completing sets, not getting flustered and just sticking to a structure, are major issues for us.

“Against Huddersfield, we didn’t stick to any of that and we crucified ourselves.

“All of us were off our game at the Magic Weekend – we didn’t stick to how we know we can play.

“It’s back to the drawing board and we need to get it fixed quick-smart.”
