ANXIOUS Huddersfield Giants officials hope to find out today how long in-form prop Craig Kopczak could be on the sidelines.

The 26-year-old suffered what could be a ruptured bicep during second-placed Huddersfield’s 60-16 Super League home triumph over Catalan Dragons .

It’s feared the injury could be similar to the one suffered by back-row forward Jason Chan in the Magic Weekend win over Bradford Bulls and will keep him out of action for three months.

But until the results of the scan have come back, Giants coach Paul Anderson is keeping his fingers firmly crossed.

“We’re expecting Koppy to be out for some time, but we still don’t know for how long at this stage,” said Anderson, who will have centre Joe Wardle back in action at Hull FC on Sunday after missing the Catalan game (knee).

“He’s been very good for us this year and has hardly missed a game (he’s played 21 this season following his arrival from Bradford Bulls), so it’s disappointing knowing we're going to have to prepare to be without him.

“But we do still have the depth to deal with injuries.

‘“We lost Koppy fairly early on, but we were still strong in the middle, and Ukuma Ta'ai played a bit of time in the front row and did well. And we know Stu Fielden is getting much closer to playing again.

“We’ve said all along we weren’t going to rush him back, but he's back running now and making a positive impression in training.”
