Eorl Crabtree column: I’m happy being called the new Usain Bolt!

I’VE lost count of the number times this week I’ve been called ‘Usain Bolt’.

It’s all stemmed from the late run I made at Salford last Friday when I dummied on our own 20 and raced 50m upfield before I was caught by Jodie Broughton, who did a top impression of Bolt’s Jamaican teammate Johan Blake.

Unfortunately, Johan won – although only just!

But at least we earned a penalty on the back of it, which helped us seal another vitally-important triumph.

And it did give me a chance to show I’ve still got a bit of pace. To be honest, I’ve been called a lot worse than ‘Usain Bolt’ over the years!

Like Usain, it takes me at least 20m to get up to full speed because of my stride length, and it’s obviously not very often I get to run 20-plus metres in a game.

In comparison, it takes Luke Robinson half-a-metre to get up to full pace because he’s got such little legs and stride length is never an issue for him.

In our own way, I’m sure me and Robbo could both give those Jamaicans a run for their money!
