Huddersfield Giants v London Broncos match reaction
JOE WARDLE knows the Giants will produce a massive improvement when they host Wigan Warriors on Sunday.
The 21-year-old scored his side’s sixth and final try in their 34-6 home triumph over London Broncos.
It was a win which sent Huddersfield to the top of the table after the opening two rounds.
But with the Giants struggling to get out of second gear against the club from the capital, Wardle knows there’s far more still to come.
“Winning any game is good, but there was still a feeling of disappointment among us at the end of the game,” revealed Wardle.
“We know we could have done so much better, particularly after the way we played to beat Saints the week before.
“We were all determined to build on that win, and it just didn’t happen for us.
“They do say, of course, that the sign of a quality side is one that can play badly and still win.
“That was us yesterday, but we’d obviously still prefer to be talking about another win for us after a great performance.
“That’ll now be our focus for Wigan next week.
“It wasn’t a good feeling coming off the pitch yesterday knowing we’d dropped our
standards. We don’t want that to happen again.”
Yet Wardle is still delighted with the fact the Giants have started the season with two wins.
“We all thought pre-season had gone well, but now we know for sure,” he added.
“(Head conditioner) Greg Brown and his team have done a fantastic job with us, and we’re definitely reaping the rewards.
“Against Saints last week and then against London we felt fit, fresh and strong.
“That’s added to the confidence we already felt, and even though we were disappointed with the way we played yesterday, we’re all looking forward to the Wigan game.”
