TOMMY LEE is relishing a return to the Giants – even though he knows new club London Broncos face a massive Super League challenge.
The 25-year-old hooker left Huddersfield for the capital at the end of last year after a successful season at the John Smith’s Stadium.
But last weekend’s opening encounters between his new and old clubs couldn’t have been greater, with the Giants winning 40-4 at St Helens and the Broncos suffering a demoralising 28-14 home defeat to Widnes Vikings.
As a result, Lee and his London teammates are bracing themselves for a massive test.
“We were obviously disappointed with the overall performance against Widnes,” said Lee.
“Based on the build-up and the way we’ve prepared and trained, I thought we could have done things a lot better.
“Obviously, it’s a long season so we’re not going to be too disheartened.
“But we know we’ve got a lot of things to improve on next week against a tough Huddersfield team. Their win at Saints the other day was outstanding.
“That’s left us in no doubt as to how tough this fixture is going to be.
“But I’m excited about going back and seeing some of my old mates.
“Having said that, this is a new start for me and a new team, and it was good to play alongside some of the London blokes for the first time in a competitive game.
“It’s been a long three months pre-season and it was good to get out there.
“Yes, we made a poor start against Widnes, but we’ve knuckled straight down at training and have been working hard to improve.”
