News on Huddersfield Giants Jason Chan’s injury
HUDDERSFIELD Giants will have to wait to discover just how long influential forward Jason Chan will be out of action.
The Papua New Guinea back-row forward suffered a twisted knee during the Giants’ 32-8 Super League XVIII victory at Leeds Rhinos.
The in-form 26-year-old, who has been at the heart of the Super League leader’s excellent start to the campaign, had a scan yesterday but the club did not expect to see the results until later today.
“We will have to wait, but it didn’t look good for Channy straight after the game,” said Anderson.
“He’s made an outstanding start to the season and was one of the form back-row forwards in the competition.
“But we are at least fortunate to have a lot of depth in the position. Against Leeds, we welcomed back Dale Ferguson from his loan spell at Hull KR and he went well, while Ukuma Ta’ai is building up his fitness all the time and will soon be making his presence felt.
“And you’ve got to remember there was no place the other night for Jamie Cording, who’s another who has started the year well, and Jacob Fairbank had to pull out.”
The tough-tackling Fairbank is already on the road to making a full recovery and is expected to come back into contention for Saturday’s home clash against Hull FC.
The John Smith's Stadium will now kick off at 5.30pm – not 5.45pm – due to a Sky schedule change.
