AUSTRALIAN coach Peter Gentle has enjoyed an up and down start to his time in east Yorkshire.

The former Kangaroos assistant came over to British shores after serving his apprenticeship under West Tigers coach Tim Sheens.

He was also linked with the posts at Wigan, as well as fierce rivals KR.

But Gentle chose to join the Black and Whites and, despite inconsistent results, has guided them to sixth in the table and will now be hoping to make a mark in the play-offs.
