SHAUN LUNT can’t wait to pull on a Giants shirt again in tomorrow’s pre-season clash at St Helens.
The 25-year-old hooker (right) is back after a successful loan at Leeds Rhinos, including a Grand final win.
Lunt had effectively been frozen out by former Giants coach Nathan Brown before the move to Headingley. Brown is now in charge at Langtree Park.
“Being back here is great, and it’s fantastic to feel wanted again,” said Lunt. “I’ve made no secret of how disappointed I was with the way things went for me under Browny.
“If I’d been playing badly, I could have understood why I wasn’t playing. But in the games I did play, I was coming off the bench, helping change the game and scoring tries.
“Because of that, some might think my main objective tomorrow night is trying to prove a point to Browny, but it’s not. My main aim is to help us build on a brilliant pre-season – the boys are absolutely buzzing – and for me to repay Paul Anderson’s faith in me.
“I get on really well with him, and it gave me a massive lift when he outlined how important I am to his plans.”
