Kevin Brown: Well done, boys!

LET me start by congratulating our four boys on being picked for England’s 22-man squad for the Origin Match against the Exiles at Headingley a week tonight.

I was absolutely delighted Danny Brough, Eorl Crabtree, Leroy Cudjoe and Luke Robinson got the nod.

Broughy obviously grabbed the headlines for his selection as he’s never played for England before. His selection has been completely justified, and if he can take the form he’s been showing at the Giants into the international arena then I think it could be very good news for England.

I’m aware there’s been some talk about myself not being part of the squad, including quite a big feature on Sky’s ‘Boots ‘N All’ programme on Wednesday, but this game isn’t about me, it’s about those who do play.

And, for me, I’d rather everyone focus on the four Giants boys who are in the squad than one of their teammates who isn’t.

I know they’ll all do a great job if selected, and I can’t wait to see what they can do.

Eorl obviously missed last week’s win at Hull with a back strain, but the other three who were in action at the KC Stadium did a fantastic job and played key roles in what was an excellent hard-fought triumph.

Broughy was named the official man-of-the-match for yet another quality showing, but Dave Hodgson must have run him close for the individual award.

Dave is a very valuable member of our squad but has been struggling to secure a regular starting spot over the past couple of months, not that you’d have guessed it with the way he played last weekend.

When you’re not being picked, it can be so easy to go into a bit of a sulk and take that onto the training pitch.

Not Dave Hodgson.
