GUESS what?
We’re all absolutely buzzing at the Giants after that fantastic victory at Wigan last weekend.
It’s never much fun watching from the stands when you’re injured, but I have to admit I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the boys produce such a magnificent team performance, and getting the result their efforts thoroughly deserved.
I know many were writing us off ahead of the game, giving us no chance whatsoever because of the number of injuries we had.
But we all said in the build-up to our season’s opener that we had complete faith in the youngsters who were stepping up, and that assessment proved 100% correct. The likes of Adam Walker and Jacob Fairbank were in the side at the DW Stadium on merit, and obviously rose superbly to the occasion.
Having said that, I think all 17 who were in action for the Giants on the day were absolutely tremendous and did the club proud.
As a result, everyone has had an extra spring in their step this week, with smiles on faces all round at training.
We also spent a fair bit of time together on our day off, with groups of us going to do various activities.
I decided to go to Xscape in Castleford where a group of us tried out the indoor surfing ‘Flow House’.
Because I’m trying to get my damaged ankle back to its best as quickly as possible, I opted to watch rather than participate – which I did think was a fairly wise move.
I have to admit Jason Chan was pretty impressive on the board – after all he is an Australian! – and Shaun Lunt and Tommy Lee managed to get the hang of it relatively quickly.
But what can we say about young Greg Eden? He was the reason why sitting this one out was a good option.
I’m going to be kind here, and just say the unfortunate Greg clearly isn’t a natural surfer. To be honest, he made himself look daft!
And, I have to say, that did surprise me a little.
