HI it’s Luke here.
Greg Eden is already proving to be a fantastic Super League full-back.
The fact our vastly-experienced coach, Browny, was happy comparing him to Billy Slater proves that.
Some of his performances this season have been sensational, and after having last weekend off and neatly side-stepping the Odsal mudbath, we’re sure he’ll be fighting fit for tomorrow’s Challenge Cup clash against Swinton at the Galpharm.
Like everyone else who’s given a week’s rest, the break will have helped him get over any little niggles and re-charged the batteries both mentally and physically.
And in Greg’s case, he probably needs to focus on the mental side as much as anything.
For all of Greg’s outstanding natural rugby league talent, I’m afraid he’s a sandwich short of a picnic, which his teammates cruelly love to exploit.
Now, I’m not saying Greg struggles on the academic front, but I did lend him a copy of my baby Leo’s favourite book ‘The Cat Sat on the Mat’ the other day. Leo’s now just over eight months old, so I’m sure Greg was able to relate to this esteemed publication.
He’ll certainly find it easier to read than the weekly nominations for ‘Helmet of the Week’, which we’ve all agreed should be one of Greg’s weekly tasks – because it’s so amusing.
There’s a whole array of words he simply doesn’t know how to pronounce. For example, this week there was a totally blank look on his face when he saw the word ‘colonel’, because he hadn’t a clue what it was or how to pronounce it!
