“It’s definitely not on my mind now, and neither should it be on the minds of the players.

“The only thing we need to concentrate on this week is making sure we’re ready to face Salford on Sunday and get back to the way we were playing earlier in the year. After that, we’ll be doing exactly the same to prepare for Wakefield.

“If you’re distracted by other things, that’s when you can get found out, and we don’t want that to happen to us. So only after these two games can we afford to think about Castleford in the Cup.

“You’ve also got to remember that by the time we play this game we may have some players unavailable through injury and some players coming back from injury, and you just don’t know how your form is going to be.

“Obviously, on the form front, the better you play in the next two games, the better shape you’re going to be in for the next round of the Cup.”

Meanwhile, Wigan have confirmed the Giants have expressed an interest in bringing their young back-rower Lee Mossop on loan to the Galpharm.
